
Opera Ipogea – Journal of Speleology in Artificial Cavities – Memoirs of the Italian Commission of Speleology in Artificial Cavities has been the scientific journal of the Italian Speleological Society since 1999. It publishes the results of the most important study campaigns conducted in artificial cavities around the world and hosts proceedings of national and international conferences, round tables, workshops and thematic censuses of underground artificial structures, accrediting itself as the most important international journal in the sector.
Its scientific committee includes leading national and international experts who, including speleologists, historians, archaeologists, architects, engineers and geologists, have diversified and multi-year experience in all aspects of human activities in the subsoil.
Since 2022 it has been a scientific journal recognized as relevant for the purposes of the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Area 10 “Antiquity, philological-literary and historical-artistic sciences” ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research).
Since 2024 it has been published by the publishing house “L’Erma” of Bretschneider.
